good byes already?

Many of the pictures above were from a day visiting Palanga, a resort town not far from Klaipeda.
We are glad to know that Grandma and Gwen have reached home safely. Their visit was so appreciated! But again as with the prior grandma visit, by the end the boys were longing for their routine and specific attention from mom and dad.
They went to preschool without complaints Monday for us to take Grandma and Gwen to the airport.
And in the evening, they were eager to do play acting of the preschool routine. They transitioned to acting out how we became a family- our visit to the baby house and bringing them home. Then Erik wanted to play that he and David were their friends Danielius and Doroteja instead. And he wanted me to come choose them at the baby house. Well, I did explain that this is not how it happened for Danielius and Doroteja. They grew in their mommy's belly and came out and grew up in that family. So we acted that out. (The boys still enjoy pretending to be babies.) It feels like it is another little step in the process of voth understanding the way babies grow up, but also how a typical family happens. So far they do not ask anything about a birth mother.

another family visit in pictures

We are enjoying Grandma and Aunt Gwen who arrived on Saturday. We got a slow start to activity - they adjusting after travel and we a little under the weather. (Actually I have had great difficulty for about 10 days and Monday got to a doctor. Confirmed that my untreated stomach reflux problem has probably been a part of this whole long string of sicknesses for me - who knew stomach affects respiratory system!!)
We got to a mini-zoo near Klaipeda. First time for us, so it was quite fun for the boys too.
Aunt Gwen also bought the boys a LEGO set that they are really enjoying.
Allergy season is affecting us and the boys... so it is a toss up, how much to be outside with white stuff floating up in the air... and how much we can contain so much energy inside. But whatever the case, the boys have not been getting afternoon naps in hopes they will go to sleep easier. It definitely makes a difference! No more fighting and watching over them for an hour after they are in bed.

Come Friday Gregg and I will try another 24hrs away again. have to admit we are looking foward to time for just the 2 of us.

memories

Today we had to say goodbye to grandma. Erik is once again asking when we are going to America. The boys were in preschool and Gregg and I drove to Vilnius to the airport to send her on her way. We surely enjoyed her visit!! The boys and grandma got to see the rainbow out front of our building which faces these big houses on Friday night when Gregg and I got a first night away together since the boys are with us. It was a treasure to have that time. And dear grandma weathered a sick boy during the night and lots of laundry. Grandmas can do anything- including making her lap into a sliding board! And Grandma became the primary bible story reader at bed time. Actually the boys were glad for bible stories any time of day which greatly pleased grandma! Grandma gave them banks last night before leaving. Unfortunately the boys have already learned how careful one should be with such things as one got broken :( Sometimes the best learning comes from mistakes though!

week in pictures

We have had a good amount of activity! Even in the house as the boys regularly want some attention and Grandma has been up to the task. We also visited with our friends whose daughter had a birthday- 3 years old. My plants continue to take over the balcony. One LCC event that I helped host still overlapped with my mother's visit. Quite an event it was with standing room only crowd that spilled out into the hallway!

And today we went to Nida to see the quaint town along the water and to experience the sand dunes.
